And Away We Go...
It's that time, again. Dredging the bottom depths of the Hollywood system, mining for what has, thus far, eluded me: that coveted bit of representation which may, or may not, get me sold or produced. Just under a year ago I sent out over a hundred emails and snail mails to agents and producers querying my romantic/comedy/horror screenplay, "Love, Zombie". And do you know how many replies I received? A whopping, anti-climactic, yet telling, zero. Now this is not my ignorance and naivete showing; albeit I'm not quite sure I have much of either left. I have been submitting to "Hollywierd" for almost 20 years now. Never in all that time have I been so heinously and casually disregarded. To think, that these "professionals" don't have enough acumen to scratch "no thanks" onto the S.A.S.E. I enclose with every snail mail and then drop it into the mail slot or box, or simply reply to my email query with "pass", is well beyond my comprehension. I've said this before, and I will probably end up saying it time and time again: I don't really know this world anymore. I'm not sure if I ever REALLY knew it before. But at the very least it operated on parameters that I understood. Now... Who the hell knows. I'm not saying that I am NOT a fool, but I am saying when a company defines itself as a professional organization and then operates like a bunch of hacks, it might be time to quit.
Lucky for me there is still the novel business. However, foolish or not... her I go again.
