MORE ON ETIQUETTE

Here is something back along those same old lines of etiquette. You will have to forgive me on that one. Modern life, and the toils and tribulations therein, would be so much more pleasant if the majority of "human beings" were only slightly aware of such little things as manners and etiquette. It will be a drum I most assuredly beat with a wild, tribal-like abandon throughout this part of my website.

When conducting business, whether it is economical or social, always look the person with whom you're conducting business in the eye. Do not stare like a psychotic or a stoner, but make that person confident that they are your focus… nothing else. For a reason I simply cannot grasp I notice the prevalence of the "no-look" increasing in my daily affairs. I gather it has something to do with the fact that I believe we, meaning the human race as a whole, are regressing, returning, as it were, to a more feral and belligerent sort of creature. I think the "no-look" has something to do with Machismo, and its all together bewildering return or resurfacing to every day life. I have always believed that machismo is the bane of the world. Wars are fought solely because one man fears that another man may have a larger penis than he. This is, at its core, inherently stupid, and it is always wrong… ALWAYS, to do the stupid thing.

Now I, admittedly, am a man. And every man, regardless of what he may tell you, has this machismo inside of him; myself included. I have swaggered and postured, much to the laughter of my dear friends, and I have thought myself better than another, because my muscles were larger, or that I was stronger, or taller (albeit the latter is so infrequent it barely needs be mentioned). Yet, the better man, is the one who possesses the ability to, not crush or deny or ignore this impetus, but realizes it exists, and exists in us all.

After realization comes knowledge. And with knowledge, one can make a rational logical decision.

So look at the people with whom you are dealing. Give them the respect you yourself would appreciate.
