I've been wanting to do this ever since I saw "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". There has been a lot of quibbling and nay saying as it concerns Star Wars fans and the new movie. So, I just wanted to throw my hat in and say one thing, YOU'RE ALL STUPID AND WRONG!!!!
Firstly: a disclaimer. SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! This is your first and last chance to stop reading this and go see the movie before you learn irrevocable truths from said movie. If you haven't seen the movie, do so.
Now, onto the dumb fans.
One of the first gripes I heard was that there was not enough originality in "The Force Awakens". You know what guys, you're being fucking ridiculous! In 2 out of 3 of the original films they destroyed a death star. Not having a death star in what is, obviously, a stepping stone film in the mythology is like not having the Enterprise in a Star Trek film. And then there's the painful fact that if these "quibblers" got what they wanted they would have griped that it was too original!
Then there's the thing with Han and Kylo being too similar to Luke and Darth. Listen people, Star Wars has been and always will be a film about family. Luke's Darth's son. Leia is Luke's sister. Kylo is Han and leia's son, it all works.
Don't get me started on the asinine arguments about Kylo's light saber cross guard. Not to put too fine a point on it, but... WHO FUCKIN' CARES! Star Wars is not about science- duh- it's about what looks and feels and sounds fucking cool! Yah shit don't make no noise when it blows up in the vacuum of space. Who cares! It's cool! And honestly, it's intrinsically Star Wars.
With all the bull shit hair-splitting and complaining from people who claim to be Star Wars fans it begs the question... what do you want? Do you want more of the over-bloated mess of the prequels? Or do you want this- a lovingly rendered homage to the best of what Lucas ever did, the Star Wars films? Don't be ridiculous uber geeks! Just enjoy Star Wars: The Force Awakens for what it is- an extremely entertaining film. It is not just a good Star Wars movie, it is great.
