All right... now we have the movie, "Observe and Report".
Suffice it to say, I did not like this film. And to be quite honest, my main gripe is, indeed, Seth Rogan. I do not understand the total adoration people have for this man. Personally, I don't find him funny at all. And to have him lead, and or, helm an entire movie, is for me, a horrible mistake. As a bit character he's fine; case in point, "40 Year Old Virgin", however, I don't see him as a powerhouse of humor. Granted, he might be the nicest guy in the world, but his delivery, as far as acting is concerned, I find stunted and on a somewhat banal level. I have never believed him. Even Michael Pena, whom I've always liked, turns in a ridiculous performance, the majority of which he simple -- lisps his way through. The movie also tries to be edgy, by mixing a good deal of gratuitous violence and nudity. But again, this only comes off hackneyed and trite. There is no deeper level to this film, as there are with such brilliant "black comedy's" as "In Bruges", "The Ice Storm", "Grosse Point Blank", or "Heathers". This is, in fact, the very definition of the kind of movie that I cannot, on any level, support, and to be more concise it is simply a movie about nothing other than -- "stupid people doing stupid things".
"Observe and Report" gets a RICE CAKE review.
