SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK

huh Admittedly, I was not expecting much, if anything at all, from this little film. Which would be the reason I've waited so long to watch it. I thought to myself, "How good can it be... a young adult horror film? Probably, a lot like that R.L. Stine stuff... and that's for kids." But then I learned it was directed by the greatest horror director since John Carpenter- Andre Ovredal, and knew I had to see it.

Holy shit! Am I glad I did.

Scary Stories to tell in the Dark is absolutely fantastic. The story is great. The acting (especially for young actors) is top notch. The directing is right on point. And the cinematography is freakin' beautiful. Not to mention the fact that there are some truly legitimately creepy fuckin' scenes.

And I've learned that the same director is directing the sequel!

If you are not familiar with Andre Ovredal, go down to Movie Madness and rent Troll Hunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. If you can't rent them, try to stream them.
Troll Hunter is wonderful and The Autopsy of Jane Doe is the best horror movie to come out in decades.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark gets the highest FAST FOOD meal review I can give a film.
