  THE BEGUILED

Here we have, yet again, another example of someone in Hollywood remaking a film believing they can do better; and, yet again, watching as they fail miserably.

Coppola's version of the 1971 film starring Clint Eastwood is bland, laborious, and boring. I guess she thought it would be more precise if she removed most of the backstories for the main characters and all of the sexual tension between Collin's and Kidman's characters: it was not. Honestly, it felt like some bullshit P.C. film where all the nasty and possibly offending bits were pulled in order so as not to disturb anyone one persons sensitive sensibilities. Made me want to rush down to "Movie Madness" and rent the original.

I gave the movie a BIRTHDAY CAKE review because there was some beautiful cinematography (albeit most of the shots were layered in a conspicuous computer generated darkness) and there were some decent performances. I don't know... I think Sofia might be too pretentious for her own good. Rent the original... forget this movie.
