"Hacksaw Ridge" is brilliant. It is, quite literally, a tour de force war movie, made with compassion and a sense of honor. The war scenes show war as it should be shown- horrifically. Some of the behind the scenes the producer was saying how no one wanted to make the movie because the main character did NOT change. Which is a legitimate thing in cinema. The viewer needs to see a change in the protagonist or he/she doesn't think that they've gone on a journey. Then it struck me, the beauty of the film. The people who did not want to make the movie were right, the main protagonist does not change. However, the views towards the main protagonist do. And the change is how he is perceived by men who had thought of him as a coward.
See "Hacksaw Ridge". It gets my highest review, a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
