And here we have Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang; of which I give, again, a high FAST FOOD MEAL review. I had "thunk" for sure that movies like "Kiss, Kiss" were gone. That there, like, would never be seen again. Then The Ice Harvest appeared, much to my perverse delight- a movie that blends violence and humor in an effortless ballet of tension and conflict. Color me happy. I was enjoying these "Black Comedies" even before I saw one of the best, Heathers. But I thought for sure, "Okay, okay. They won't make another. People don't like comedies with a heavy body count."
I am graciously and happily proven wrong by the beauteous and gut busting, violent hilarity of Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang. Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr. are absolutely brilliant. Brilliant I tell ya'! The chemistry between them is both ludicrous and riotous, as well as touching and endearing. Everything is done well here: from editing to acting, directing to lighting, scripting to action. "Kiss, Kiss" is a dance of violence that blends humor and slapstick as easily as it does gun shot wounds and bodies.
