  THE SHAPE OF WATER

"The Shape of Water" is a beautiful and magical film. It is done with consummate love and humility. The acting is superb. The special effects, as always, amazing. The direction is almost perfect as is the editing and cinematography. However, and this may be a fault of my own idiosyncratic brain, I couldn't stop comparing it to "Pan's Labyrinth". "Pan's Labyrinth" is a hundred times superior to "The Shape of Water", and I was shocked, when I did a little google research, that it did not win best foreign film. As with many things that "Oscar" does I think it made a mistake in passing over "Pan's Labyrinth", "Water's" Oscar feels more like sympathy than a real honor.

With that said, "The Shape of Water" is well worth seeing. I give the movie a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
