  POSSESSION

So, this little gem was recommended to me by a friend at work.

Possession is a slow-burning... almost Requiem for a Dream type of psychological descent into horror. It has a Cronenberg-esque type of body horror feel and is quite disturbing and, for some, possibly difficult to watch. For my part, and being the twisted individual that I am, I loved it. Some of the imagery stuck with me well after the final credits had rolled. The acting (super young Sam Neil, and a breathtakingly beautiful Isabelle Adjani) can be a tad melodramatic at times, however, and strangely enough, I thinks this works for the over-all mood and tone of the film. This movie is not for everyone. It might be too slow for some. And it might be a little too disturbing for others. My young friend Svea and I talk horror movies all the time now, as she is finding an affinity for the genre, but I would never suggest this to anyone as their first horror film.

Possession is an extremely unique and creative horror film that I never knew existed. I'm glad I watched it. And you will be too if you stick in and give it a chance.

I give Possession a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
