Talk about mindless action movies, "Hardcore Henry" is exactly that. It is a bile-inducing, vomit-triggering, gut-wrenching, headache of a film, whose only novelty is a go-pro camera on a stunt man's head. Seriously, with a movie like this I can't help but wonder... "what's the bloody point?" They didn't make a movie, they made a video game. There is no story, barely any structure, the characters a transparent and thin at best, with the only standout being Sharlto Copley eating up the scenery playing different robots. But again why? Who cares? There's a protagonist with super telekinesis powers and we don't know why. Oh! He also is wearing Darth Maul contact lenses, and we don't know why that is either. Basically, "Hardcore Henry" is a visual mess. And the whole stunt, the whole gag; i.e. the first person perspective, gets tiresome and boring after about ten minutes. Not to mention the fact that if I wanted that perspective I would simply play a video game. Furthermore, the perspective is limited in its scope and grandeur. And one last point, if you happen to have a sensitive stomach or struggle with vertigo or equilibrium heed this warning carefully... DO NOT SEE "HARDCORE HENRY". It will literally make you hurl.
"Hardcore Henry" fails as a movie, and as unique gag or perspective, therefore it gets my lowest review, a RICE CAKE review.
