Where Wolf Creek failed to do anything inspiring beyond the same old, contrite horror clichés, Hostel completely and utterly succeeds in being that which it strives to be- a sharp kick to groin, full blown, in your face, gratuitous horror film.
Hostel gets a FAST FOOD MEAL review.
I was pretty, wonderfully surprised by Hostel. I haven't seen a horror movie this wanton and this unabashedly horrific in quite a few years. Not since the 1980's have I been witness to such a horror movie that wallowed prideful in so much plasma and viscera, as well as a nice spattering of nubile, European beauties who (giggle, giggle) have problems remembering where they left their halter tops and like to indiscriminately mount American males.
Not only that, but the premise of Hostel is also quite unique: very simple, but extremely complex and twisted in its simplicity.
Do not see this movie if you're squeamish.
