  16 BLOCKS

I just saw three movies, all of them good, so I'll begin with the first one. (My friend and I like to get together and do what we call R.E.D.: Rent-Eat-Drink. He has a movie projector so the experience can be much better than that at an over-priced theatre.)

First, we have 16 Blocks, a Richard Donner/Bruce Willis vehicle. I give 16 Blocks a FAST FOOD MEAL review.

16 Blocks is great. It's simple, but it is still very good. I mean this is Richard Donner we're talking about here. So, once I learned that, I reasoned that it would be a cop/buddy picture, which it was. However, it also worked, and worked well. Mos Def does an extremely good job playing the character Eddie Bunker, and Willis (who has played the washed-up/down-and-out New York cop more than a few times) is also remarkably adept at bringing to the screen the emotions stirring behind his eyes. For the most part, I've always believed Willis and his acting; meaning, if he's playing a jaded New York cop I usually believe that he IS a jaded New York cop.

Very good film, very tight script, well edited, and directed. 16 Blocks is nothing special, yet, it does deliver in a way many movies fail; it is both thought provoking and entertaining.
