Brilliant, brilliant… brilliant!
Michael Mann's, "Collateral", gets a Four Course Meal review.
Admittedly, I have liked Michael Mann ever since "Miami Vice", and with such films as Manhunter (the movie where I was first introduced to the magnificent Brian Cox), The Last of the Mohicans, The Insider (an incredible effort by Russell Crowe), and Heat, you simply cannot go wrong with this director. "Collateral" is no exception.
It's hard for me to tell, but I think… at least, I'm pretty damn sure… no, I am positive… I liked every damn, single thing about Michael Mann's newest film. The script is wonderfully simple and witty and intriguing. The direction in not forced or contrived in anyway. The cinematography is artsy and adroit, without feeling either artsy or adroit… effortless. The performances by Cruise and Fox are outstanding.
Go see this movie. There's nothing more to say. It is… brilliant.
