  TERMINATOR: SALVATION

To be honest, I was not impressed with "Terminator: Salvation". Therefore, it receives a BIRTHDAY CAKE review.

The C.G.I. was pretty cool, for lack of a better word. Cooler than the special effects, actually, was the sound; they really worked hard at making the robots sound strange. Barring the above mentioned items, "Salvation" lacked on many fronts. Bale (whom, I have always liked) turned in a gruff-voiced, flat performance; directly opposite him, a feel-good-emo-terminator- played well enough by Sam Worthington- that made my stomach turn, and bile rise in the back of my throat. Moon Bloodgood playing Blair Williams, while beautiful, and competently acted, was, quite literally, too beautiful; her hair perfectly quaffed at every turn, her make-up never smudged or smeared. It reminded me of a cheesy seventies movie; namely Barbarela. The story - never dark enough, or violent enough, or deep enough to be anything but bombastic action. The apacolyptical world of James Cameron is, strangely enough, pretty: with fresh running streams and verdant trees and sunlight and -- everything else that would never be found in a bloody apacolyptical world! And let us not forget, lest the director catch wind of the fact that we- the audience- actually has a brain, the heart transplant in a field hospital. There's good, realistic drama, and then there's drama done simply for drama's sake. John Connor receiving the heart of the "Emo-Terminator" would most definitely fall under the latter category.

On a whole, "Salvation" is simply a bad movie. Holy crap! I nearly forgot the C.G.I. Arnold!

Dumb and dumber -- yes -- but not as funny.

p.s. what's with the directors "tag"-like moniker?
