Stranger Than Fiction is a rare and beautiful film. I give the movie a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
The concept of the film is bright and unique. Will Ferrell's performance is wonderful, both funny and touching. The whole film is dealt with by mature, seemingly intelligent adults; not pandering or patronizing; almost as if everyone involved with the film wanted to do a very good movie.
Well, they succeeded.
And what the hell is it with Maggie Gylenhall? She's not a "drop-dead" gorgeous beauty. In fact, she's kind of quirky and awkward looking, but every time I see her in a movie, every time she steps into frame, I fall in love with her. The characters she chooses, the way in which she acts, has so much earnestness, so much honesty and sincerity, that I can't help but be attracted. I don't know how she does it (part of me doesn't want to know), but whatever she does… it's working.
