All right, here it goes- my somewhat skewed review of Soderberghs movie, CONTAGION. First, let me get this out of the way. I do not like Stevan Soderbergh as a director. I find his films to be vacuous images clumsily pasted together. His character development is usually nil, his story skeletal at best, and his overuse of a blue filter for night scenes superfluous. I went to www.imdb.com to see if there was anything he has ever done that I have liked, and there was. I liked THE LIMEY and OUT OF SIGHT, but that is it. For a director who has done over thirty movies (which is a monumental achievement in and of its self) I would hope that there might be more in there that was good. Not really. And unfortunately, CONTAGION is one of his worst. As stated before, there is no character development or story. In fact, let me sum up the movie for you very quickly- a shit-ton of people catch a bat/pig flu from Gwyneth Paltrows character (who happens to be an adulterous whore, but that is beside the point), a shit-ton of people who we, the viewer, do not care about die, and then they cure it. Simple and boring.
I give the movie a RICE CAKE review. Avoid CONTAGION like the- plague.
