"The Babadook" is the rarest of horror films; it's smart. With a brilliantly written screenplay that is directed with both confidence and control, and acting that scratches the upper echelons of, dare I say it, Oscar-worthy , "the Babadook" works on a myriad of levels while maintaining a ubiquitous sense of dread. (My girlfriend was "genuinely creeped out" by a number of scenes.)
In short, it doesn't get much better than "The Babadook". That's why it gets a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
