I grew up in the 80's. I love everything about the 80's (everything but the fashion). And as is the case more often than not, people are beginning to realize how wonderful a time the 80's were. The books were amazing. The movies rocked. The music was varied and awesome. It was an incredible time to be a teenager. I was the kid that jumped on his bike in search of adventure. I was the kid that got teased for playing D&D. Until, that is, others realized how fantastic the game was, and actively joined in. I was the kid who fought against censorship, loudly crying out that D&D was NOT satanic (which was a thing in that decade), and that music needed to be uncensored.
Summer of 84 is an unapologetic Penthouse Forum love/sex letter to that time; barring the serial killer, of course. Summer of 84 is magnificent. I can't imagine a more entertaining and enjoyable movie. And the ending will stick with you long after the credits have rolled.
Ironically, I watched this right after seeing Turbo Kid, not knowing that both were produced, written, and directed by the same team. What a great, and serendipitous, double feature!
This movie is wonderful and gets a very high FAST FOOD MEAL review.
