"The Drop" is fantastic. A slow burning, underground crime thriller, that takes its time, builds its tension, and creates a mood of ever-present danger. Tom Hardy is marvelous; as are Noomi Rapace and James Gandolfini ("The Drop" being the last film he made). This is the kind of film that needs to be made. The kind of movie on which "Holly-weird" needs to train their focus. There is no CG and very little special effects. There is, however, an overwhelming attention to detail; such as lighting and cinematography, character development, story and story structure. It really is quite brilliant, but in a completely understated way.
I give "The Drop", a FOUR COURSE meal review.
