Here's a surprise. I stumbled upon "The Trust" after watching the trailers of another movie. Thought it looked cool, and rented it. And hell... it is cool. It is cool, fun, funny, and dark. It is a caper drama that takes a decidedly dangerous turn near the end of act 2. Both Cage and Wood are outstanding; funny and compelling, and yet grounded in reality. The cinematography showing the grittier side of Las Vegas is fantastic. This movie's great. And completely undeserving of its lack luster ratings on both imdb and rotten tomatoes. Furthermore, I like Nicolas Cage. Sure, he's been in a slew of bad movies, but he's also been in a slew of great movies; e.g. "Match Stick Men", "Lord of War", "Kick Ass", "Wild at Heart", "Leaving Las Vega"... just to name a few. And come on... who doesn't like "The Rock"?
"The Trust" is great: part comedy, part drama, part heist; therefore it gets a very solid FAST FOOD MEAL review.
