I definitely believe "A Quiet Place" is an amazing, wonderful movie. The concept alone is worthy enough to grant it a FOUR COURSE MEAL review. But then you have the execution, which is absolutely fantastic considering it's Krasinski's first directorial debut. He doesn't over-hold shots, nor does he cut away from them too quickly; the mood and the dread is built brick by brick by brick until it is literally pounding you over the head- quietly. I loved it! And not only that, but I think it should applauded, and applauded not so quietly, for its boldness and originality. I really don't have any qualm to speak of. My mother and brother did not like the ending, but I thought it was foreshadowed enough to make perfect sense. Some people may not like the fact that the monsters and the post apocalypse are never really explained, however, I enjoyed that aspect possibly the most. We, as in the audience, are simply dropped headlong into a crazy world of silence, and the fact that there are maybe four lines of dialogue in the whole film is absolutely brilliant.
"A Quiet Place" is as good as it gets. Period. That's why it get a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
