"3:10 to Yuma" -- brilliant. Humbly, one of the best westerns made. Up there with "Unforgiven", "Tombstone", and "The Proposition". Bale -- brilliant. Crowe, true to form, also -- brilliant.
Not much to say, really. Mangold's western is a gritty, well-written, character-driven drama, and a damn engaging story. There is no fat on this film. Which is to say, it appears taut and timeless; every scene has a purpose, and every character carries with him a sense of both honor and iniquity. Beautiful, brilliant, dark, and witty.
I loved this movie. And you will too. I give it a FOUR COURSE MEAL review.
