All right, "The Purge", has some issues. It should have been much, much smarter. There are so many holes and plot mistakes; i.e. giving your son the security codes, no cameras outside or in the home, no armory in the home, no intercom system in the home, etc. The scary thing is I could go on. However, there are some redeeming qualities to this movie. I real did enjoy the acting, from Headey to Hawke to Tony Oller, who pulls in an outstanding turn as the polite psychopath. And the premise, albeit outlandish and unrealistic to some, was for my part really quite interesting. With a more thought out plot and storyline this movie may have garnered from me more than a high BIRTHDAY CAKE review.
