I remember this movie getting panned by reviewers, and for the life of me I can't understand why. I liked "Chronicle". In fact, I liked "Chronicle" a helluva-whole-lot! "Chronicle" for me, was smart and well-executed. It takes the stumble-into-super-powers genre and looks at it from a new angle, one much more intimate and profound than Hollywood's normal fair. What's not to like about a nervous, shy teenager, abused by his asshole father, coming upon a glowing, giant crystal orb, and learning he has great and significant power? Sign me up! Think "Akira" in the Pacific Northwest. It is also shot extremely well. Where "Cloverfield" failed from a sense of isolation and the one-camera-perspective, "Chronicle" succeeds by having the "documentary", and or, "found footage" feel, and also expounding on that original theme by providing shots from cameras inside cop cars and street cameras. Well done.
The movie "Chronicle" gets a high FAST FOOD MEAL review.
