The movie "Knight and Day" is somewhat tough to review. Honestly, the script is pretty tight, the dialogue witty and sharp. Even the story - a pseudo, wanna-be "Romancing the Stone" - is entertaining, if not believable. The really problem (and the reason I cannot give the movie a higher review) lies with its stars: Diaz and Cruise. The two of them, accomplished actors in their own right, lent nothing to the film. Cruise was deadpan through the entire film; flashing that annoying, perfectly straight smile of his any chance, he could. Diaz was goofy and quite simply, irritating. They had zero chemistry together, and even less sexual tension, which in the end did the script a great disservice. Cast differently this film would have been the taut, sexy, action-packed, thrill ride it strove to be, as it is "Knight and Day" is watered down, pg-13, decaffeinated fluff.
I give "Knight and Day", a BIRTHDAY CAKE review.
