And again, all I seem to be reviewing are re-makes; thus, DONT BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. Honestly, the movie sucked. And that is being kind. It is flat, unemotional, and uninspired. I love Guy Pierce, however, in this film he walked around like an American ghost. Katie Holmes looks vacant and tired. The C.G. is cartoon-ish and silly. There is no character development of any kind and barely any story. We, the viewer, do not know why anything is happening or why the characters are reacting the way they do, and inevitably, we do not care.
DONT BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, fails on... well, basically... every level. That is why I give it a RICE CAKE review.
